What are the different types of chains?

There are many different types of chains to choose from. Anchor, bead, belcher, cable, and trace are the most popular chain types you can buy from Auree. All have unique chain links and come in a mix of shapes and sizes, depending on your style.

The anchor chain has interlocking ovals with a bar running across the middle of each link. The bead chain is made up of a series of tiny beads or balls linked together tightly and is typically quite petite and dainty. The belcher chain has medium-sized round links and is used the most in pendant necklaces. The cable chain is made up of identical oval links and looks great in small, medium, or large sizes. The trace chain is made up of round or oval uniform links of thin wire which shows off pendants and charms beautifully.

What are the different chain lengths?

Necklace chain lengths start from a short 13" (33cm) and increase in size of up to 42" (107cm). If you prefer a chain close to your neck, choose a choker: 13-15" (33-41cm) and if you like a longer necklace look, pick an opera: 26-38" (66-97cm). The most popular chain length would be princess: 16-18" (41-46cm) and matinee: 20-24" (51-61cm). 

How do I choose the right chain?

To find the right chain for you, it’s important to consider your face shape and what you’re wearing. For example, longer chains make the face appear thinner so choose a lariat or rope necklace if you have a round face shape. For squarer faces, avoid strong lines and choose chains with round links to soften the edges and angles of the face. Heart shaped faces are best with short round chains like chokers and oval and diamond faces suit almost any chain length, especially the collar, chokers, and princess chains.

How should I wear chains?

Chain are perfect for layering different lengths and styles together to create unique and fun layering combinations. Chains can be worn on their own without any extra decorations, but you can also add charms to chain bracelets and pendants to necklace chains.
