The Best Celebrity Engagement Rings of All Time
Engagement rings are hard to pick! Size, shape, cut and colour are all things that you’ll have to think about when you’re looking for the ring your other half will love. When searching for the perfect engagement ring, it’s a great idea to look for inspiration from relatives, celebrities and royalty. From rich blue sapphires, to dazzling pear shapes, we’ve put together a list of the 20 best celebrity engagement rings of all time.
Princess Diana
Easily one of the most well-known engagement rings, the first on our list had to be Princess Diana. Diana selected her own engagement ring, which consists of a 12-carat oval Ceylon sapphire as a centrepiece. The blue gem is surrounded by 14 solitaire diamonds and set in 18-karat white gold. A stunning ring, this piece is still in the royal family - Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton with it. This ring has been replicated many times due to its beauty and timelessness.
Why we love it: Sapphires are beautiful gemstones for engagement rings as they add a bright pop of colour and richness.
JLo
While Jennifer Lopez has a few engagement rings to show off, her ring from Alex Rodriguez is definitely our favourite! The ring features a 15-carat emerald cut diamond. It’s certainly eye-catching, taking up most of her ring finger!
Why we love it: The square emerald cut is truly unique and shows off the sparkle and layers of the diamond.
Katy Perry
Katy Perry’s engagement ring is just as quirky and colourful as she is. Orlando Bloom popped the question in 2019 with this beautiful flower-shaped cluster ring, featuring a pink centre stone surrounded by diamonds.
Why we love it: This ring is out of the box and unlike any engagement ring we’ve ever seen before. It boasts a stunning mix of gemstones and is a little nod to their future child, Daisy Dove Bloom.
Meghan Markle
Another royal engagement ring, Meghan Markle’s ring captures her favourite style while still being an heirloom piece. Customised by her and Prince Harry, the ring is yellow gold and the main stone is a large diamond sourced from Botswana, with little diamonds either side from Princess Diana’s collection.
Why we love it: Meghan’s ring is a beautiful way to use vintage jewels and turn it into something modern.
Cardi B
Cardi B never does anything by halves and her engagement ring is a classic example of that. Designed and custom made by Offset, the ring is a double halo setting with an 8-carat pear-cut diamond, surrounded by smaller tapered diamonds.
Why we love it: This ring broke the internet - not only is the shape glamorous, but the ring is ginormous!
Alison Brie
Alison Brie’s ring from Dave Franco is a beautiful modern piece, featuring round-cut diamonds with double diamond halos. The stones are set on a rose gold band – the signature colour of romance.
Why we love it: The rose gold gives a dazzling blush colour and coupled with the shape, it looks like a rose.
Grace Kelly
Hollywood actress turned royalty, Grace Kelly’s engagement ring is one of the most extravagant and expensive. This 10.47-carat emerald cut diamond ring by Cartier was given to her by Prince Rainer III, making her Princess of Monaco. The huge ring is reportedly worth $4.3million!
Why we love it: This ring is fit for a princess – oh and did we mention she received two engagement rings?! Her second was an eternity band set with rubies and diamonds.
Elizabeth Taylor
Elizabeth Taylor had one of the biggest jewellery collections of all time. Given to her by Richard Burton, she was gifted the Krupp Diamond which was later renamed the Taylor Diamond. The diamond is 33.19-carat and was auctioned off for $8.8million in 2011.
Why we love it: The ring is just as glamorous as Taylor and we’re slightly jealous - who wouldn’t want a diamond named after them?!
Victoria Beckham
The marriage and wedding of the decade, Posh and Becks certainly didn’t disappoint with this engagement ring. Victoria’s ring featured a 17-carat pear-cut diamond on a platinum pave band.
Why we love it: As the saying goes: go big or go home! The Beckham’s certainly did that with this ring.
Chrissy Teigen
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are easily one of the most adored couples of the 21st century – mainly because of ‘All of Me’. Chrissy’s ring is a cushion-cut diamond ring that boasts a huge amount of sparkle.
Why we love it: The main reason we love this ring is how well it matches her diamond wedding bands. The engagement ring nestles in between the two beautifully.
Beyonce
Beyonce’s engagement ring is just as flawless as she is. The 18-carat flawless octagon-cut diamond ring is worth $5 million and is one of the most expensive celebrity engagement rings of all time.
Why we love it: The split shank band beautifully shows off the octagon-cut diamond.
Jessica Biel
Designed by her fiancée Justin Timberlake, this ring is full of intricate colour and design. It’s a 6-carat diamond ring surrounded by aquamarine gemstones and set in a vintage inspired setting in blackened platinum. It sounds like a lot – but it works!
Why we love it: It’s a beautiful mix of modern and vintage.
Blake Lively
While we love laughing at Blake Lively and Ryan Reynold’s prank wars on Instagram, we’re secretly jealous of her engagement ring. It’s a 12-carat oval-cut diamond perched atop a diamond and rose gold setting.
Why we love it: The size and colour makes the ring an irresistible statement.
Princess Eugenie
Our final royal in the list, Princess Eugenie’s ring gives a heartfelt nod to her mother, Sarah Ferguson. The ring features a padparadscha sapphire surrounded by diamonds, similar to her mother’s ruby engagement ring.
Why we love it: The style, shape and colour is a modern take on Fergie’s and honours her beautifully.
Emily Ratajkowksi
Emily Ratajkowski’s ring shows off different diamond cuts. The ring has two diamonds, one pear-cut and the other square-cut, finished atop a gold band. The two cuts are unique and the ring was designed by Emily herself.
Why we love it: We love the idea of combining different cuts. Although the stones are different, they balance each other perfectly.
Kim Kardashian West
We were so sad to hear that Kimye had filed for divorce, but we’re still obsessed with Kim’s engagement ring. The ring showcases a dazzling 15-carat D, flawless cushion-cut diamond, designed by jeweller, Lorraine Schwartz.
Why we love it: The ring has been described as the ‘perfect cushion-cut diamond’ – and we totally agree!
Eva Longoria
We love engagement rings that are striking and colourful, like Eva Longoria’s. This ring features a bright ruby gemstone at its centre surrounded by sparkly diamonds. The colour of love, the red ruby is stunning to look at and its beauty is highlighted by the diamonds.
Why we love it: Rubies are rarely used in engagement rings and this ring is a testament to their beauty.
Lady Gaga
Another Lorraine Schwartz masterpiece, Lady Gaga’s engagement ring is just as unique as her. The 6-carat diamond is in the shape of a heart that sits lightly on a thin diamond band.
Why we love it: It’s rare to see a heart-shaped diamond and this one symbolises love clearly and beautifully.
Heidi Klum
Coloured diamonds are rarely used in engagement rings with many opting for diamonds in their traditional colour. Heidi Klum’s engagement ring from Seal features a stunning 10-carat canary yellow diamond, set on a gold band with pave diamonds.
Why we love it: The yellow colour is subtle yet powerful at the same time.
Ariana Grande
Finally – and the most recent engagement on our list – we have Ariana Grande. This ring incorporates a traditional oval-cut diamond set on a platinum band and accompanied by a single pearl. The diamond is at a slight angle, giving it more structure and shape.
Why we love it: We’ve said before that we’re big fans of mixing gemstones, but this pearl is even more meaningful than it originally lets on. The pearl is believed to have been from Ariana’s late grandfather’s tie pin.
